It occurred to me, as I stood in line to vote last week, and then watched the outcome, how our efforts would be perceived. For the first time in years, the world got to see the power of democracy against the enormous odds of oligarchy and ideology.
Think about it. They may hate the mistakes our government has made, but they learned to respect us, the people, that day. That's a hopeful victory. America is a democracy -- maybe we can be one, too. A lot more powerful than any battalion or cluster bomb. At least, it seemed that way to me.
